If you're anything like us, you love a bit of mystery. The black building in Hove with tinted windows and very little signage isn’t giving anything away - it could be a strip club or a secret gambling den. Turns out it’s a wicked restaurant up top, with an uber-sexy cocktail bar below. Our kinda place.

You might recognise Steven Edwards ‘off the telly’ as he was one of the youngest Masterchef Professionals winners in 2013. He’s not been sitting around since then, and now has two seriously impressive restaurants to his name. Etch is a firm favourite for foodies who want Michelin-recommended food served in a slick, unpretentious environment. With only 12 tables and a seasonally changing tasting menu, seats here are hot property. The latest addition to e is a subterranean bar serving awesome cocktails - a batch-created Negroni has been fat-washed with duck fat for a mouth-watering umami finish, while the Paloma twist combines tequila, mezcal, rosemary and milk for a herbaceous depth and added smoothness.

Eat, drink, be merry and don't forget to have fun in the loos. The Japanese toilets offer the full works.
