BARCHICK SAYS

In one of the coolest squares in Florence, Piazzo di Santo Spirito, south of the Ponte Vecchio, is this bustling Bohemian café-bar, which covers all your coffee, cocktail and nibbling needs.

When we arrived at this simple spot, they had Johnny Cash blasting out into the square - even on a Wednesday night this place was roaring with the hip arty scene of Florence hitting it hard. If you’re trying to escape the tourist hotspots and over-the-top, over-priced bars, then this is where you wanna hang.

Grab an ice-cold beer here or a Mojito (they're fantastic) and sit on one of the outdoor tables, or on the steps where most the people are perched, watching the world go by. The bar is often three-man deep, but the barmen are good fun and speak pretty good English, for those with sketchy Italian.

Piazzo di Santo Spirito is where it’s at – this square made BarChick want to pack it all in and move to Firenze (especially with the number of hot men that seem to hang here). Pop Café is more of a late night haunt, so be careful not to get lost down the cobbled alley on your way home.
