Butler

Butler

BARCHICK SAYS

Whiskey fans, listen up: Butler is the place for you in Hong Kong. Owned and run by Japanese master mixologist Masayuki Uchida, it’s serious about its single malts, bourbons and top whiskeys from Japan.

Nestled away in the heart of TST, most of the 20-seats are at the bar so you can watch the genius taking place. It’s pretty intimate in here so reservations are a must. This is somewhere to take time over your drink, or browse the collection of vintage whiskey magazines in the corner if your date’s boring. The barmen are impeccably dressed in white dinner jackets like something out of Casablanca (apparently the standard uniform for Japanese bartenders), and serve up well-balanced drinks without a fancy garnish in sight. Settle in for a couple - you might as well, as there’s a minimum charge of HK$200 per person. Totally worth it, trust us.

The leather-bound menu is extensive with killer cocktails and over 200+ spirits, tell the bartenders what you feel like, or hit up one of their whiskey tastings (prices range between HK$90-$1000). If you get peckish hit the jamon iberibo, or they have more hefty snacks designed to complement the drinks. As you leave the barmen bow and shout Japanese goodbyes - a little taste of Tokyo.
