Don’t get distracted by the Pacha T-shirts and dodgy club wear, keep heading into the Old Town, towards the Port. Check out Puff Daddy’s Gin Palace on your left and dodge the mimes, eventually you’ll reach the more laid back and authentic bars of this part of town.

This bar has been here for years, and is frequented by DJs, dancers, seasoned island veterans and some more in-the-know tourists. El Pirata opens at 6pm, and continues serving until 4am, so it’s a great place to kick off or finish your night in the town. Suck up the view with a Sangria, and do some serious people watching. BarChick met all sorts from the Techno Viking to the Von Trapps.
