Blind Tyger

BARCHICK SAYS

Just like the dreaded Isla de Muerta, home to Captain Barbosa and his crew of miscreants, Blind Tyger is a bar that cannot be found, except by those who already know where it is. Luckily for you, BarChick is going to let you in on this well-kept secret. Located above (and owned by) Leeds’ legendary Sandinista, Blind Tyger is the city’s first genuine attempt at a super-cool, low-key, Prohibition style cocktail bar.

Never too busy, never too quiet, this place really is ice-cold. The name is a not-so-subtle nod towards the infamous speakeasies of 20's America and this place truly makes you feel like you’ve stumbled across a naughty hidden gem. Its candle-lit, jazz-smoky feel is made all the more assured by the dusty bookcases and stuffed animal heads mounted on the walls.

If you’re looking for a place to take a date, trust us, anywhere else will only be second best. This place has plenty of dark corners for you to smooch in and enough fine booze to keep your love interest well oiled. They’re pretty serious about cocktails in here; their smartly-dressed bartenders will give you the low-down, all drinks come with a boulder of hand sculpted ‘designer’ ice and house spirits are merely a formality. BarChick had the Black Swan, a beautifully rum-based, sweet, smoky number with an orange twist. Soothing.
