Cocktails & dim sum get glamorous

Who's Lucy Wong, you ask? She's the imagined daughter of the titular character in the 1957 novel The World of Suzie Wong (yup, the fictional offspring of a fictional character. It's a little complicated). Lucy is a mid-century socialite, and her namesake cocktail spot is your entrée to her world, darling.

This basement hideaway from The Breakfast Group (the team behind faves like Fam and Opium) feels like stepping into a noir film set in 1950s Hong Kong, with dramatic lantern lighting, an opulent marble bar, sexy lounge seating and cosy corners for spilling your secrets. Slide into a booth and get on the cocktails, which come courtesy of mixology ace Dré Masso. The menu features traditional serves with Asian-inspired twists (now's your chance to try baijiu, baby!) as well as a bunch of well-made classics, if you're feeling less adventurous. Our highlight? It was the Cherry Blossom Manhattan, with goji-infused Maker’s Mark bourbon, Courvoisier VSOP Cognac, Mancino Sakura vermouth and cherry bitters: punchy, fruity and floral.

The food menu is short but sweet, with dim sum and roast meats, and they do 'em right. Go for the dim sum basket and the roast meat platter to sample it all. Whether you're treating your mum, your mates or a hot date, Lucy's your gal.
