This place is classic and an absolute must for all you Knightsbridge kids. Discreetly tucked away inside the Egerton House Hotel, take someone special (or the mistress) and put the world to rights over a few mega Martinis.

The bar oozes old school chic with its beautiful paintings, warming fireplace, bar thrones (the Ferraris of bar stools) and its pretty table cabinets. We recommend drinking slowly, eating carefully and talking at length.

Silver-tongued and pocket sized bartender Antonio has been serving London’s glitterati impeccable Martinis for decades, and so have one you must. The theatre of his delivery is quite literally priceless. With a somewhat shaky hand and a steady step he will carry it to your table miraculously without even spilling the meniscus (that’s a cocktail’s muffin top): he leaves that up to you as you take your first sip. Drinks in here are on the punchier side of life. BarChick’s date ordered an Old Fashioned and it was literally a beaker of whisky, he needed propping up on the way out.

Settle into a sofa, enjoy the rarebit on toast and other delicious snacks and revel in your surroundings. Oh and if flying solo kick back with a copy of Horse and Hound, when in Rome, right?
