One of Mayfair’s 5 star hotels is making better use of its old luggage room and has turned it into a cocktail joint – GENIUS! Think back to the days of the Bentley Boys (check out their initials on the side of the tables!) and throw in some old movie star glamour and an art deco interior. This place is the go to place for carefully crafted cocktails in a cool, calm and sophisticated atmosphere. Head through the tall navy door with the small window and enter this leather clad, drinking den. With marble flooring, wooden panelled walls, some understated luggage studded trimmings on the walls and brown leather armchairs and booths you’ll want to get comfy.
Bar Manager Abdulai Kpekawa formerly of Roux at the Pembrey and his crew of talented bartenders are making up some serious concoctions. Travel bags and trunks have been cleared out for classic cobblers, Martinis and punches. The Airmail Champagne cocktail with rum, honey and lime or The Fish House punch with Cognac, rum, peach, lemon and sugar was right up our street. You’ll be served vegetable crisps and assorted nuts but you gotta get in some of the real bar snacks, they ROCKED. YES salmon scotch egg and definitely get involved with the potted blue cheese, naughty, but everyone loves a little bit of baggage right?
