Long Island Bar

BARCHICK SAYS

This place was a Brooklyn legend for over five decades. After being shuttered for six years, it took bar legends Toby Cecchini & Joel Tompkins to bring it back to life, and they did a stellar job. They’ve kept the Cobble Hill institution in all its Art Deco charm from the wraparound red and green neon sign out front, to the cream and red leather booths.

The drinks are straight forward and awesome. You won’t find any fancy ice or molecular chemistry here, which is just how they want it. We like their signature Long Island Gimlet - a heady coupe of gin and their house made ginger-lime cordial – with a side of fried cheese curds (be warned: they’re addictive). The kitchen is run by two top chefs, so expect good things there too.

The crowd is pretty Brooklyn, of the best variety, not looking to get sloshed, just getting into the seriously good drinks.
