It’s hard not to make a beeline for the balcony, and go into a bit of a daze. By night, the view over the Hudson River is spectacular with Lady Liberty winking at you in the distance. Hey, girl!

There’s a wall of windows and wood decking running from the bar out to the balcony. Even when you’re sitting in the comfort of one of the grand sofas with a Spiced Margarita in your hand, your view is mega. Low-lit and sexy, Bar Hugo kinda glows with lots of chrome, blown-glass light pendants floating in the air and a wave-shaped bar. The service is impeccable and the tunes are cool (Lana del Ray, the Knife, etc.)

Craft cocktails come from British Ben Scorah of Bill’s Food and Drink so they’ve got that covered, as well as a nice Champagne menu for the West Village crowd. On the top floor of this duplex bar is a rooftop terrace where they host boozy brunches on the weekend, and is where you’ll find us come summer. We hear the hotel is pretty epic too, if you’re looking!
