Kingston Hall

Kingston Hall

BARCHICK SAYS

Smack bang in the middle of New York’s trendy East Village, Kingston Hall is tucked away above the lurid neon lights of The 13th Step, creepy.

The entrance is a little obscure, up the stairs to the right of the neon glare, but once you’re in, it’s one of the most welcoming spots around – wood-panelled walls and roaring log fires in winter make for a great atmosphere.

Good, seasonal beers on tap and solid staff who know how to mix a decent drink are always on hand, though the bar tends to pack out, so if you want to get a nice seat, get there soon after your 9-5 finishes. The bar itself gets busy with seats too, so can be a bit of a hassle to actually order a drink unless you’ve got a booth and an on the ball waitress. Oh and there’s a pool table.

Tasty bar snacks are available, with a Caribbean slant (the clue’s in the name) and the jerk chicken wings, pork sliders and coconut shrimp are a must.
