The Wayland

BARCHICK SAYS

This place has a bit of Deep South twang, with reclaimed furniture, massive windows and an upright piano to bash out some honky tonk tunes. The vibe may be rowdy, but the cocktails are civilized.

In an area packed with mixology dens, this place is nicely free of pretensions. We like the I Hear Banjos with apple pie moonshine, rye, and house apple-spice bitters topped off with a globe of applewood-cinnamon bark smoke. It’s a bit of a showstopper. Oh, and did we mention they have Coke & Fernet on tap? Bad ass.

Their happy hour from 5pm-7pm (Mon - Fri) means you can get cocktails for $7, $4 beers and $1 oysters, plus some inventive oyster shooters - shallot-infused mescal with pickle brine anyone? Sign us up!
