Greeted by Motown classics from Al Green and Otis Redding, it’s the perfect way to set the tone for a night out. With chevron wood walls and relatively low ceilings, it’s got sauna vibes, and this hot New York City hideout happens to serve Imperial Porters AND cheese platters, so it’s the best sauna BarChick’s set foot in, like, ever.
Take a seat on some reclaimed wood and peruse the list of myriad imported and domestic draft beers written on the mirrors. We're talking 21 draft lines with loads of local faves as well as global craft beers. These gems are available at 5 ounces if you’re feeling slightly gutted from last night’s gin-induced head-splitting hangover, or at 14 ounces if you’re getting chummy with one of the bartenders.
Given half a chance, they’ll start talking about the ‘flux capacitor’ and calibrating Nitrogen here – these guys are geeking out and we love it. And it’s not just the spot on Scandinavian simplicity fused with Hollywood glamour that gives this place hazy warmth—the zesty lemon olives and Evil Twin Brewery’s Lil B Imperial Porter (which tastes like melted fudge and sea salt) left us feeling recharged and recalibrated. BarChick loves a post sunbathe sauna, but we will kill for fudge beers and blue cheese.
