Little Bird Bistro

BARCHICK SAYS

This feels like having a picnic in the woods, complete with little feathery friends, except there’s awesome French food and drinks made of the strong stuff. Little Bird Bistro may look tiny from the outside, but the high silver-plated ceilings and eggshell blue walls give a feeling of being outdoors in the fresh air, without even leaving the city. Huge mirrors complete with little bird’s nests and branches to frame them really open up the space (while giving you the opportunity to covertly check yourself out).

Executive chef Erik Van Kley puts out dishes that are serious French eats without the pretension. He takes French classics and puts his stamp on them with amazing dishes like goat’s cheese gnocchi with roasted lamb neck, peppers and mint. This is food with a whole lotta love in it.

There’s a cute little bar if you’re just on the booze, and their drinks programme has really gone the distance, as well. With a massive wine list and a neat little cocktail menu that changes pretty often, there’s something for everyone. The Pontchartrain really ruffled our feathers in all the right ways with rum & Cognac, passion fruit, Chambord and lemon.
