Hot on the heels of Islington’s Fish & Chip Shop, Des McDonald has turned his attention to the hot American south in all of its BBQ glory. Let the smell of smoking meat guide you through the door and instantly transport you to a life so much better. With high ceilings, lots of exposed untreated wood, and hammers for beer taps, every detail has been considered.
The menu is meat-tastic, baby. Don’t be shy, get your fingers sticky… tuck into those awesome chicken wings. On more of a fish thing? They’ve got you covered with oysters, ceviche and other bites from their raw bar.
On the liquid side of things, bar manager Leigh Hodge has created a list that will more than wet your whistle. With a good mix of classics and their own mixes thrown in you’re sure to find something to cool the flames. We loved the Run DMC (Diplomatico Reserva, Diplomatico Anejo, agave syrup and orange bitters). Pop in here for a lazy lunch, or later when the lights go down and the music is pumping, you won’t want to go home.
