Red Fox

BARCHICK SAYS

If you can find this little bar on your first shot, then you must be communing with your own inner fox and able to track down a good boozer with your eyes closed. Tucked away on a small side street in North Portland, with only a tiny patio to give any impression of some kind of habitation, Red Fox is worth the hunt.

With a kickass jukebox, a fair amount of eye candy and a solid food menu, this is the perfect place to hide from life on a lazy afternoon or to disappear in late on a Saturday night. There are epic skylights, which give it a really airy warehouse feel during the day, but when the sun goes down, so do the lights. It can get pretty crowded, so don’t expect lightning speed service, but they pour with a heavy hand, so we weren’t really fussed. A couple of whiskey and gingers later and you’ll be surprised how time flies.

Also, every Monday night, people bring in board games. Cluedo anyone?
