Jellyfish Lounge at Farallon Restaurant

BARCHICK SAYS

Hello Moby Dick!

Are those lamps hanging from the ceiling floating jelly fish? This place looks like an underwater adventure, with a raw bar to one side and a molded whale bone ceiling, it’s all pretty awesome. Octopus stools draw you in for either perfectly crafted cocktails or, if you're feeling peckish, light snacks from the bar menu. One look at the oysters (over 15 different options during high season), ceviche and caviar and you'll be thinking about staying for dinner.

Follow the glowing strands of kelp and starfish along the walkway to the dining room, where an open kitchen allows you to see the chefs create their impressive dishes. Take a look at the ceiling - the art deco mosaic was once above the hotel’s pool which was in this exact spot. Farallon, named after the islands just off the San Francisco coast, has a very seafood dominated menu, however meatheads will be happy to see a few favorites making an appearance.

Give the Hemingway Daiquiri a whirl, a classic with a writer’s flourish - the added italic of grapefruit juice and bold froth of egg white. If wine is more your thing, they're ready to sweep you away with a fantastic wine list.
