BARCHICK SAYS

Love gin? Silly question. This summer go get your alchemy freak on with Bombay Sapphire's Artistry in Alchemy pop up on this sexy as hell roof terrace 38 floors up.  Our favourite cocktail super geek slash bartender Rich Woods has created the menu so you know it's gonna rock your world- coconut Gimlet? Matcha punch? Coffee-pineapple-gin-pistachio creations? All here baby. Pair that up with some awesome sushi, sit next to one of their fire pits (warmth necessary) and gawp at the views and you've got yourself the ultimate date night.

Perched near the top of the dizzying Heron Tower lies Sushisamba: home to incredible views and delicious food. Having already made its mark across the US of A, it’s now decided to shake up London’s eating scene (and skyline). It’s colourful and quirky; things seem to spiral out of control everywhere and there is an odd mix of shapes and textures, but it works so feast your eyes as well as your belly.

You can sit inside but why would you (unless it’s gale force winds / hail storms) when you can take your pick from the two terraces and hang out overlooking the legendary Shard and Gherkin. It’s pretty breath-taking out here and it’s bright with a lot of orange in the form of chairs, cushions and placemats (so don’t go if you are one of the 250,000 Americans who suffer from chrysophobia – that’s a fear of the colour orange to you and I, carrot anyone?).

Sit at the dark wood sweeping bar - it’s stunning. A beautiful tree adorned with lights is the centrepiece of the drinks cabinet, and the drinks served are almost as pretty. The cocktails are delicious: choose from Samba signatures, Latin classics or Bubbletails. We liked the Kumori made with nigori sake, shochu, gin, cucumber, lemon juice and a nori sea salt rim.

Views aside, you’re here to eat. The food (judging by the name) is a unique blend of Japanese, Peruvian and Brazilian cuisine. Eat seared Wagyu beef, salt and pepper squid and yellowtail sashimi. Everything tastes so amazing you will be up here again and again (unless of course you have vertigo).
