Al Prosecco

BARCHICK SAYS

This bar does exactly what it says on the tin, and then some. Al Prosecco in Campo San Giacomo is a neighbourhood classic in the fringes of Venice. Tables shaded by trees sit out in the Campo and with a glass of Prosecco in hand and view of the ancient Basillica you couldn’t be anywhere but Italy.

Prosecco is 2nd only to the Spritz when it comes to Venetian drinking habits so it’s no surprise this speciality family run bar has a killer selection of the fizzy stuff.

Sure it’s a Venetian wine bar but this innovative little joint specialises in natural process wines and they’ve quite the selection – yeast fermented wine anyone? Try it and don't neglect the meats and cheeses either.

What’s the catch? You’ll be lucky to find it open, it’s kind of anyone’s game as the owners close up when they feel like it (as early as 8pm some nights). Your safest bet is to channel your inner-Italian and go for an afternoon session. Suits BarChick just fine.
