The Quay

BARCHICK SAYS

Situated dangerously close to the River Severn this slightly more upmarket tapas and cocktail joint comes with a weather warning, which makes it way more exciting, right? It opened in late 2012 and has relaunched twice already due to flooding, whatevs, BarChick loves a good bar opening.

Aimed at the more discerning boozer, The Quay hosts a healthy looking wine collection; it’s safe to be adventurous here so move away from the house and put a little faith in your bartender. Get involved with the cocktails too, the menu consists of classics mostly, but if you wanna go off piste there’s the option to order a sharing tray of miniatures…which you don’t have to share. On a similar note the giant sized cocktails, designed for about 5 people and served in a hulk-scale cocktail glass might be your kinda thing. Discuss your bevving requirements with Jack or Ginge, our favourite bartenders (BarChick's mum thinks one of them looks like R-Patz), we’ll leave it to you to decide.

Don’t neglect the food here, we reckon it’s the best in town by far, the deli counter alone sets it above the rest, we’re suckers for anything resembling a buffet. Serving up fresh fish, succulent steak and cracking roast dinners on a Sunday The Quay is a bit of an all round performer, weather permitting that is.
