When it comes to Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva they, use 3 different distillation processes, distilling it in copper pot stills, blending it (using rums carefully selected by the Master Blenders) and maturing it in whiskey barrels 12 years, which might sound like they’re making things more complicated than they need to be, but baby – it's all worth it when you taste the end result. With aromas of orange peel, toffee and licorice, this beauty is sweeter than a usual rum, and mighty smooth on the palate, so expect notes of toffee fudge. Needless to say it absolutely bangs in this twist on a Manhattan.
70ml Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva
30ml red Vermouth
A drop of bitters.
Add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Mix, filter and serve in a glass. Top with a maraschino cherry and twist of lemon peel.
