Casita Verde is more boho than a bag of lentils. All eco-friendly and vegetarian, and somewhere to visit if you wanna be at one with mother earth. Yorkshireman Chris Dews opened his center of ecology nearly 20 years ago after travelling the world in the British Merchant Navy and has made it one of the hottest, educational hangouts on the island. Lookout for the green heart stickers on everyone’s cars in Ibiza to see just how popular this place is. The aim of Casita Verde is to show visitors that an alternative lifestyle is in reach for everyone and buildings are made from recycled bottles and clay. The eco-friendly toilet was particularly impressive, consisting of a shed, a hole in the ground and some sawdust, we may even get one in the office.
Situated in the beautiful San Jose countryside, Casita Verde isn’t easy to find. The turning, ironically, is somewhere between Space and Amnesia and goes on forever… Once you arrive you’ll need to sign up for membership, which is fine because it’s a tenner and you get a free meal at the veggie buffet.
Rock up on Sunday and schmooze with the island’s hottest hippies, there’s either a DJ or a dude on a guitar and the bar is all about aloe-vera juice, local carob coffees and milkshakes, apart from Juicy Thursdays when they let loose with the booze, sweet.
