BARCHICK SAYS

What used to be Banksy’s old art gallery is now a slick ‘n meaty hangout with a great little basement bar.

Upstairs is HoxBox, but you should head downstairs for the cocktail bar; it’s kitsch, stylish and if you’re into your street art you might recognise some of the pieces down here. The menu is a piece of art itself, find the cocktails, wines and beers at the front, followed by weird stories and poems about each cocktail near the back (perfect to flick through if your date is late).

The drinks are experimental and taste damn good. The Statler & Waldorf is inspired by a Waldorf salad and comes with a beetroot and apple garnish and the Rye Me To The Moon uses their own homemade bay leaf syrup. Feeling funky? Order the amzing Blessed Thistle, made with Kettle One, smoked pork fat (from the restaurant upstairs) and thyme washed aromatized wine and sherry vinegar. It’s like a meal in itself with layers of flavours, and reminded BarChick of a kind of Big Mac cocktail… but in a good way, trust us!

Peckish? Head upstairs for a meat fix. A Dirty Swine Sandwich made with pulled pork collar, and spicy hot link sausage teamed up with some smoked mac and cheese and ham hock pinto beans. Slammin!
