The thing with ‘best-kept secrets' is that they don’t tend to stay secret for very long. These are the total vibes when you step into José Tapas Bar on Bermondsey Street. It’s tiny - one little room where people tuck into tapas & sip on sherry elbow to elbow. The wrap-around windows make the best spot for people-watching in summer & steam up with the hubbub of the crowd in winter. It’s small & usually stuffed & feels exactly like you’ve dropped into a local bar in Spain. We love it.

When you have tapas on the brain, this is one of the best places to head in London (maybe the UK… yeah we said it). Open since 2010, it’s got a cult following & for good reason. The changing menu is written on the blackboard, with everything from gooey, indulgent Croquetas to the kinda marbled Jamón ibérico that melts on the tongue. Crack on with the sherry (they have an impressive selection by the glass) or enjoy an Andalusia-inspired Aperitif. José Pizarro knows his stuff - just check out at the multiple establishments he heads up - and we get the feeling this one’s pretty close to his heart. We’re totally with ya, JP.
