Danny Meyer is the man behind Shake Shack so he already has a lot to answer for in terms of our lifetime calorie-intake; and Porchlight – his first standalone bar – isn’t helping matters with its southern-style cocktails and bar snacks.

On a weeknight there's quite an after-work crowd, low-key and friendly with relaxed tunes. The space is sleek and modern – a nod to the south in the rocking chairs and books on the shelf, but no gimmicks here. It’s big so perfect for groups; if you're a twosome there's seating around the edge as well.

The Gun Metal Blue is bang on the blue trend with Mezcal Vida, Blue Curacao, peach brandy, and lime with a cinnamon kick. Though Rhubarb Rhubarb is a nicely balanced signature with Fords Gin, zucca, lemon, rhubarb, and egg white. When it comes to snacks, Tom’s balls were alluring but a bit dry (sorry Tom), and on the whole the drinks here are stronger than the food, but we're fine with that.
