The sister bar to Bar Astor in Rio sits happily amid the hustle and bustle of the Bohemian area of Vila Madalena, the Notting Hill of São Paulo with good food, live music and hotties everywhere. This place won São Paulo’s Best Bar Award in 2011 and it’s easy to see why.

French brassiere come 1950s Art Deco in style; mirrored pillars, retro lights and a huge backlit bar make this place easy on the eye. The hot young things of Brazil hang out here at the weekends, from lunch right till it closes at 3am.

This is a bit of a gin hotspot, so if you’re partial to a decent G&T then you’ll want to sample the different flavours on offer here.  We drank their take on the original classic (Tanqueray, tonic, bitter orange, juniper seeds, lemon and an orange twist) before staggering downstairs to the speakeasy style bar SubAstor, where we stayed until the lights came on.
