It’s a shame it has to be in the gargantuan Marina Bay Sands shopping centre, but hey, that’s where international imports set up shop. Anyway we didn’t care where we were once we’d plonked ourselves down in the Mario Bellini-crafted leather barstool and ordered a drink.
Wolfgang Puck has brought his American steak house, CUT to this Mecca of Singaporean retail – the first in Asia. Located to attract the high rollers from the nearby casino, early and late diners from the theatre next door and anyone else passing by covered in European designer shopping bags, you’re set to be in the smartest of company with prices to match.
The bar team certainly step up, stealing ingredients from the international kitchen to shake, mix and stir up a storm with dozens of house infused syrups. We had a Pins and Needles (gin, rosemary syrup, cucumber and lemon juice) followed by a Sweet Little Thai (lime, lemon grass, ginger, basil and chili), perfect for spice lovers.
Priceless wine and Hollywood stars grace the walls alongside Mr Puck himself. They say it’s some of the best steak in Singapore, and at that price it should be. We don’t know about that, but they certainly have the smartest loos in town.
