Georgina Barbachano García

Who are ya, and where are you currently working?

My name is Georgina Barbachano García but everyone calls me Gina, currently I work as a bar manager for Hanky Panky.

Tell us something about the industry we might not know!

In México we have a really tight community and we are all BFFs!

What’s the best thing about working in the drinks industry?

The people and connections you get to make, in my case, I get to know people from all around the world and some of them actually became really good friends - oh and the travel!

What is your favourite cocktail and where’s your favourite place to order it?

I love a Sbagliato and obviously, I love them when I can chill at Hanky Panky and have one! And I love making them with friends at home and drinking there, or at any bar that a friend works at. Such an easy and fun drink!

Ever had a bad-ass/rock n roll bartending moment?

I think the most rock n roll moment was the tour we went through Europe making guest shifts pre-50 Best -  in 15 days we went to Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Rome, Athens and London. Like a proper rock band!

Where will we find you on your nights off?

Either at home watching movies on the sofa with my dog or going to eat at my favourite places with friends.

What’s your party trick / super-hero power?

Not sure about what my superpower is..can I wish for one? Tele-transportation for sure! Saying bye-bye to being late and not going to things cause they’re super far.

What’s your favourite cocktail to make?

White Lady, it was one at the beginning that I couldn’t do correctly, so when I mastered the egg white it earned a special place in my heart for sure!

And what’s your least favourite?

Any blended drink. I’m terrible at finding the perfect balance of ice and liquid, to be honest.

Who in the biz do you always hope you’ll bump into when you’re out for a drink?

I have a lot of good friends in the industry so every time that I bump to someone I haven’t seen in a while I enjoy it!

If you weren’t tending bar, what would you be doing?

I’ve always had a love for graphic design or industrial design so I like to think it would be my other path.

What is your desert island bottle?

Rey Campero Jabalí.

What is your hangover cure?

Coca-Cola and chips fuego for when I really can’t move out of bed. if I’m slightly hungover but still moving, I love a good spicy chilaquiles or a consome de birria.

We’re thirsty. If you were gonna create a cocktail for BarChick, what would you make?

Now I'm loving a good refreshing drink, so I'd probably do a Spritz with some Cynar and St Germain, sparkling water and a good prosecco, garnished with capers so you also can have that munchie moment.
