Who are ya?

Jennie Rae aka HotBarChicklet

Where do you work / what do you do?

I’m currently at CASK Liquid Marketing, an East London drinks agency with a portfolio of premium spirits. I’m brand manager for Gin Mare, Capucana, Curado, Ysabel Regina and 1724 tonic. I met my now bosses Stu and Herb 7 years ago during my BarChick days when I judged the Gin Mare cocktail competition in Ibiza. I was never going to stray too far.

What’s been your BarChick rock n roll moment / highlight?

In its hay day it was all pretty rock n roll. The travel was ridiculous. I was lucky enough to drink in some of the best bars around the world and get paid. Kentucky, Mexico, Barcelona, Paris, Barcelona, Ibiza.. the list goes on. Four years I’ll never forget (minus some inevitable blackouts along the way).

Favourite cocktail?

Totally depends on my mood. I like them to taste like booze, rather than be fruity so usually I’ll sway towards martinis, negronis or straight whisky, but If I’m partying then a margarita does the trick.

Best city in the world for a bar crawl?

London and New York are both undeniable, but the funniest bar crawl I ever did while at BarChick has to be Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm – 3 cities, 3 days, 30 bars. Killer.

You can teleport yourself to any bar in the world – where are you going for…

A killer cocktail:

Satan’s whiskers. Good vibes, even better drinks.

An all-day session:

Hidden, Ibiza (RIP), that place got me through some of my worst hangovers and by sunset I was always back in the game and ready for round two.

Dancing on the tables:

The Holetown street party on Sunday nights in Barbados. Lots of little party bars with plenty of rum flowing.

The way to this BarChick’s heart is…

Serving my drink with a snack, or feeding my hangover.

When you rock up to the bar who are you hoping is behind it?

There are too many bartenders I could mention here. I prefer to sit at the bar rather than at a table, so as long as they’ve got some good chat, weird humour and make tasty drinks then I’m happy. Someone nice to look at is also a bonus.

You’re stranded on a desert island and you’re allowed one bottle… which one are you taking with you?

Ocho tequila, it goes down way too easily. It’s like happy sugar water. Plus, tequila on a tropical island? No brainer.
