While the weather outside might be frightful, for Day 3 of BarChick’s Advent, we’re taking you to the sun-bathed orchards on the banks of the Charente in Jarnac, France, where you’ll find the legendary House of Hine.
A little bit of history...
This is Cognac country baby, and the birth place of Hine Rare VSOP Cognac, a blend of around twenty eaux-de-vie from Grande and Petite Champagne grapes. And exactly what you want to be sipping come Christmas Eve.
It’s a TOP notch Cognac with a rich and fruity palate – think notes of marmalade, toffee apples and stem ginger. You might even pick up some melon vibes. Damn, it’s good. Sure this is a classy kind of neat sipper but this Christmas Day we’re serving it up in a Hine Champagne Cocktail – if you can’t at Christmas then when the hell can you?
15ml Hine Rare
1 Brown sugar cube
1 dash Angostura Bitters
Top up with Champagne
Garnish: a slice of peach
Place the brown sugar cube in a flute and add the bitters to it, add Hine cognac and top up with chilled sparkling wine. Garnish with a slice of peach on the rim. Tres bon!
