A Hot New Cocktail Lounge Is Coming To South London

Our fave Peckham local is getting a Camberwell sib

Yeah, perfection is a social construct. But when it comes to the perfect neighbourhood bar, Peckham-based Funkidory is as close as you're gonna get: vibey '70s-inspired interiors, a vinyl soundtrack that's always bangin' and - of course - a line-up of amazing cocktails. Oh, and did we mention it doubles as a café and bottle shop? Wicked.

So it's safe to say that we're Christmas morning-levels of excited that Sergio Leanza and Anna Fairhead-Benitez, the duo behind Funkidory, are opening a new bar in Camberwell. The new project - name TBD - will be tucked below Forza Win in the Church Street Hotel, serving up New York-style lounge vibes in a bigger venue than the original.

Naturally, the team plan to put that space to good use. They're kitting out the new bar with a full-on cocktail lab for menu development. Like the serves at Funkidory, the Camberwell bar's cocktails will deliver complex flavours with simple and sleek presentations, and if they're anything like Funkidory's Rye Lane cocktail - the glorious lovechild of a Manhattan and a Dirty Martini, with rye whiskey, dry vermouth, fennel seed syrup, olive brine and a fat nocellara olive - some epic new drinks are in our future.

We're also expecting some seriously groovy tunes from this place. Get ready to wrap yourself in a warm blanket of nostalgia with soul and funk on vinyl, move your body to next-level DJ sets and vibe to intimate live gigs with up-and-coming musicians.

Funkidory's sister bar is set to open in Camberwell in early 2023. Welcome to the neighbourhood, baby!
